After long last, Super Turtles Volume 1 is released! Grab a slice while it’s hot!
Sorry for the delays on this. “Important” matters kept coming up, like videogames and laziness. I also spent a lot of time tweaking minor things, going through each page again and again and finding another little thing I wanted to change, an incorrect space, some text alignment, etc. So I’m relieved to be done with this one. But hey, bring on the next! Hope you enjoy this release.

Well we’ve finally gone and done it. We’ve finished Megaman. Tear the final issue right out of the chest of the internet here.
Too bad this never got any more issues, as I am curious as to where the hell it was going with this. I may write up my own personal guesses as to what would have happened in any material past this issue, we’ll see. If anyone out there reading this happens to be someone who worked on this comic, it’d be cool if you’d let us know what was planned.
So what do we do with franz now that this series is done? Do it again, of course! As we always planned to, we’ll be re-doing Megaman eventually, so we can release version 2 editions. They’ll (hopefully) have any translation errors fixed up, more consistent font usage, any other fixes we find out about that need done (hint: tell us in the comments if we made any mistakes). I’d also like to make English translations of the covers and letters pages and editorial stuff etc, hopefully at least some of that will happen. If anyone wants to volunteer to clean those covers, please do, they’re a pain. V2 releases will not start right away, but they’ll come sometime in the future and hopefully in quick succession. I hope you enjoyed this comic, at least on some level. I actually learned to enjoy it quite a bit by the end here, and will probably read the whole series through in a sitting soon now that we’ve finished the v1 set. Thanks for reading.
The penultimate issue, Mega Man 15, hot off the presses.
Finally get to see some classic Mega Man bosses properly in this one. They’ll be in the last issue, too. Gutsman is actually called “Killer” in this comic, but as we did with Bass, we’ve restored the normal name for simplicity’s sake. While doing this issue, and probably the next, franz is actually currently living in Brazil for a month or so. Obviously, this trip was an Opentrain research trip, with no ulterior motives whatsoever.
A little while ago, I was approached by big-time TMNT fan Demon-Alukard from turtlemania.ru to participate in a translation for a pretty rare and obscure issue of TMNT. Basically, TMNT issue 8 involved a crossover but also introduced characters that would appear many times later in TMNT. So the issue was important to the story, but they didn’t want to reprint it due to the crossover legalities. So they made an alternate version of the story they could print freely, and kinda…didn’t do much with it. It was only ever printed in Spanish. Opentrain was asked to translate the issue, and Serpentsounds did about half of it and it turned out another translator came forward and finished quickly, so most of his stuff wasn’t really used. But we provided a second look on half the lines, and did a line that the other person forgot to do, so Serpentsounds and I got our name in the book anyway!

This is pretty cool for me personally, getting my name into print in an issue of TMNT, even if it isn’t a completely official printing. But the issue art, inks, story, etc are all a legit Mirage studios issue, and Demon-Alukard has a pretty impressive history of working with actual TMNT staff members, check out their Image conclusion issues for example. Cool guy, and I thank him for this opportunity.
We released two years of this magazine’s comics before we had this blog, and this one took us awhile to finish, so this marks it’s first appearance here. Hopefully the rest will come in a more rapid succession. So, here it is: Do the Mario!
Anyway, this release is all the comics from the German edition of Club Nintendo magazine from 1993. We’ve got Mario asking for help with a medical problem from Dr. Light, who seems to want to de-interlace him; Mario’s attempt at a career in music; Mario being called in for (GASP) actual plumbing work, only to fall into an Oz dream; Mario and pals going on a budget vacation; and Mario unwillingly traveling through time to visit other videogames. Featuring appearances by Joe & Mac and the Lost Vikings.

In this issue, there’s a page with some fairly neat cameos, and the confusion that is trying to tell the Neo Mavericks apart. Yes that’s right, all 5 members of the mysterious organization known as THE SIX are revealed in this issue. We are nearing the end of the v1 releases. V2 checks are being done already, hopefully those will be able to be turned out fairly quick, but I’m probably going to do an enforced “vacation period” after the release of 16v1 to see if anyone wants to come forward to clean up the covers for us, and while we debate about if we wanna translate the letters pages and such or not.
Here’s Megaman issue 13: Enjoy your robot…crotch plate things.
In this issue we have the “mega family” fighting each other, because someone thought the best way to talk to Mega Man and pals would be to ambush them, knock them out, and strap them to a wall naked. For some reason, they didn’t appreciate that approach very much. Also in this issue, someone has to break Usenet because it’s overwhelming power would have made things too easy for the human rebels.
I realized that I didn’t bother to mention anywhere on the blog that our stuff may or may not be NSFW, so I thought I should. But then I realized there isn’t really a great place to post that anywhere remotely permanently. So what I’ve done is installed a plugin that gives categories colors at the end of posts, and I’ll be using those colors as a content indicator. The scale will mostly be in regards to nudity, since that seems to be the thing people want to be warned about the most, so there could still be some language or violence etc in things lower down on the scale.
basically it’s:
blue: utility color for non-release posts and bonus pretzel stuff
green: nothing too questionable, although violence and or some language could still be present
yellow: stuff like megaman where there is sorta-nudity and such going on
salmon-pink-color: mangas & videogames is here, this is stuff that has some actual nudity in it
red: game doujinshi with more directly adult content whatnot goes here.
Of course this is just for informational purposes, our releases will continue to have whatever materials they have in them. I just know that some people will appreciate knowing in advance. Use it as a system to keep yourself from seeing naked girls, or use it as a system to find naked girls, it works both ways.
Here’s another chapter out of Mangas & Videogames, goes by the name of 64.
In this chapter, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li fight Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo for the right to get a fighting game on the N64. Well, Chun-Li is more of a lover than a fighter in this one. Also features some cameos by other characters on the last page.
